STOP whatever you are doing. You could lose everything you have on your computer or phone, right now.

Google Drive, Dropbox is not enough.

Get something to automatically backup your devices. Here’s some suggestions:

  • Backblaze: If you are on Windows or Mac. 6$/mo/computer, not per Gigabyte or Terabyte. Email, password, payment, install and you are ready to go.
  • Restic CLI-only. Otherwise the best there is. See my guide for restic.
  • Duplicati Has a nice GUI and as long as you have your computer start it on startup, it just works (after you set it up).

The last two have encryption built in. Nobody will get your data. If you don’t have a remote storage, the cheapest reasonable one is Backblaze B2.

Now that you have done that, I would suggest you backup your backup strategy. Having one automatic backup for critical business is better than nothing. If you are busy, you will probably not notice your backups failing. Have 2 solutions going at once. You should also follow the 3-2-1 strategy
